Diet and Nutrition Workshop at BIOM
We didn’t forget about those of you who weren’t able to attend BIOM’s Diet & Nutrition: The 5 Element Way workshop.
Here’s the “takeout” we wrapped up for you:
The Joy of Learning
We started out with some slow, quiet, and easy Chi Kung to turn our attention inward; exercises that promote a strong, healthy digestive system.
We honored our stomachs with a delicious serving of quinoa with shitake mushrooms; (pronounced ‘keen-wa,’ this cereal grain is from Peru, and is closely related to amaranth).
We then learned about 5 Element principles, and discussed the 5 Element food groups. We talked about what “balance” means from a 5 Element perspective, and how to combine foods to create energetically balanced meals that build an energetically balanced body.
We analyzed and discussed recipes, emphasizing how particular foods provide extra health benefits when eaten at the right time of the year, and became more familiar with important, unfamiliar, Asian culinary ingredients.
There was a lot of tasting, sipping, talking, and laughing.

Human Being
Human “being” is a wonderful feeling.
It can show up as you experience gratitude or amazement. It can show up as you focus on, and appreciate, your breath in a Chi Kung class. It can show up as you lie down to go to sleep, and become aware of that feeling of restfulness wrapping itself around you.
All you have to do is be there to appreciate it.
