Rocket Fuel & Your Liver (When fact is stranger than fiction)

As Spring approaches, your Liver, and it’s effect on your nerves is picking up the pace, and starting to generate a lot of energy: the kind of powerful, pulsing, productive energy that is the essence of Spring.

It’s important to remember that a primary function of the Liver is to filter out toxins that find their way into your body. And what can you do to ward off the detrimental effects of toxins that enter your body through the air that you breathe and the food that you eat—even the mother’s milk fed to your children?

Oriental Medicine counsels building the health of your Liver so that it can withstand as much toxicity as possible: advice that should be taken as evidenced by the following report:

“Rocket Fuel Chemical Found in Mothers’ Milk”

The following key points were distilled from a recent article published by MSNBC News.

  • Perchlorate, a toxic chemical used in rocket fuel was found in virtually every sample taken in a new study of nursing mothers’ milk; samples were on average five times higher than those detected in dairy milk pulled from grocery stores.

  • Perchlorate, used in rocket fuels, fireworks and explosives, is considered particularly dangerous to children, and has been found in drinking water supplies in 35 states, and also in vegetables.

  • This study was conducted over a two-year period, using milk obtained from more than 20 women selected at random, and from stores in 23 states. It was funded out of researchers’ pockets, and published online in the journal Environmental Science and Technology.

  • The chemistry professor who led the study said, “it raises more questions than answers,” but hopes it helps people become more aware.
