I was speaking with someone the other day, who wanted to know how coaching could help him with a career goal he was “trying to bring into the light of day.” As we got further into our conversation, it became apparent that, while he knew he needed coaching, he was concerned that the tenor of our interaction might be at a professional level higher than his own, because he was not an “executive.” So I asked him: “Aren’t you the ‘executive’ of your life, making decisions that determine the directions you head in? Don’t you make decisions that determine how profitably you use your time? Mind Your Own Business I realized a long time ago that I’m my own business; whether I’m working for myself, or doing what used to be called the “9 to 5,” - before it became the “7 to 6.” Either way, it’s a good idea to ‘mind’ your own business, and take inventory of what your heart is telling you; then, with a clear sense of where you want to operate in life’s marketplace, get busy creating and executing the plan that will generate returns for the rest of your life. “You become mature when you become the authority for your own life.” - Joseph Campbell http://www.biom.net/index.php/291/
