Meditative Martial Arts
This combination of Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido, Pa Kua Chuan, and Chi Kung shows you how to approach day-to-day challenges with a warrior spirit, tempered with a meditative perspective.
At BIOM you can learn how to use the meditative martial arts in ways that meet your particular needs, interests, and personality, and how to apply them—at work, at school, at home, and on your way.
A Blended Experience
Meditative Martial Arts at BIOM is a blended experience that includes:
These meditative martial arts are taught and practiced with the intention of cultivating and combining a meditative perspective and a martial perspective.
These practices and perspectives—which gave traditional warriors the capacity to face life and death situations with a calm, alert, and focused body and mind—are available for you to use today: at work, at school, at home, and on your way.
Ways to Learn
BIOM provides a dual approach for learning the meditative martial arts and cultivating your warrior spirit:
Meditative Method. Cultivates the health-inducing, mind-calming, and confidence-building qualities of Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido, Pa Kua Chuan, and Chi Kung.
Traditional Method. Combines the “meditative method” with self-defense capabilities that are an intrinsic part of these powerful, widely-applicable martial arts.
A Three-legged Stool
When you sit on a stool you want to feel supported, safe, and uplifted. You want the complete experience. It’s the same with the meditative martial arts, which have three main sections, which, when blended into a mutually supported structure, provides you with the following benefits:
Good Health. The meditative martial arts at BIOM begin with cultivating health, because without health, the mind and body are weak and cannot muster the energy needed to do the things that fulfill you..
Ebullient Spirit. When your health is good, or improving, you have the focus and enthusiasm that motivates you to enjoy life. With a healthy body you’re better able to cultivate your meditative perspective, which then enables you to look into yourself and begin to experience useful and joyful capacities that tend to remain underdeveloped because of lack of attention paid to them.
Self-Confidence (Self-Defense). It’s a wonderful experience to have the strength to walk in the world with a feeling of freedom and confidence. The meditative martial arts teach you methods and attitudes that enable you to meet the challenges that meet you.
Embrace Tiger—Return to Mountain
This Tai Chi expression evokes the inner strength and calmness needed to soothe and embrace the tigers you encounter from time to time.
Meditative Martial Arts at BIOM help you discover the inner resources used by traditional warriors to calm themselves before, strengthen themselves during, and heal themselves after the battle: skills that remain useful today—at work, at school, at home, and on your way.
