Chi
Very simply, chi is the life force within all living things. When
we say, "My energy is low today," we're feeling our
level of chi.
When
our bodies have chi, we are alive; when chi moves
smoothly and freely within the body, we have health; when chi
becomes blocked, we become ill; and when chi disappears, we die.
When you breathe the air, it
is chi coming into your body that gives you life, when you eat food, it is
the chi, or life force in the food that's being transferred from the food to
your body to give you life.
(Note: The equivalent Japanese
term for "chi" is "ki"; as in Ai-ki-do)
Rebuilding
and Maintaining Your Chi
You are born with a certain amount of chi
that's inherited from your parents and this chi gets gradually used up as
we age. It is through good diet and nutrition and proper exercise—Chi
Kung—that you can revitalize yourself and live a healthy life..
As we age, our store of energy
(chi) lessens, and our genetic or acquired weaknesses are no longer
offset by the naturally abundant chi we had when we were young. So to continue to
feel well and stay healthy, have to strengthen and maintain our chi.
Rebuilding, balancing, and maintaining chi
is the specialty of Oriental Medicine.
Chi
Kung
Practicing Chi Kung promotes higher
levels of energy and stamina, and when combined with proper diet and
nutrition, slows down the aging process.
